Reading group: Black feminism

We invite you to our first online reading group on Black feminism. We will read and discuss some of the key works of iconic Black feminists, Angela Y. Davis, bell hooks and Audre Lorde.

What is the connection between race, class and women? What is poetry, love and silence in the struggle for freedom? What is Black feminism?
Through readings and discussions we will try to find new interpretations and meanings to these questions.

In the end of this reading group we will collectively translate one of the texts into Uzbek. It will contribute to our aim of knowledge production in the Uzbek language.

Languages

We will read in English, as, unfortunately, there is a lack of works on Black feminism translated into Uzbek.

By translating some of these pieces into Uzbek we hope to increase accessibility of diverse knowledge in Uzbek and make next reading groups in Uzbek on these translated texts.

However, we will discuss in both English and Uzbek, depending on which one is more comfortable for participants. Hence, it is preferable that participants understand both languages.
