Her Gaze: Moving Image from Central Asia

We invite you to the screenings program — Her Gaze: Moving Image from Central Asia.

Her Gaze is devoted to decolonial
non-Western approaches to feminism through cinema. The program brings together works made by Central Asian women artists
of different generations. Domestic day-to-day life, deprivation of agency and instrumentalization by political hierarchies, personal bodily and mental perspectives — videos span a variety of subjects yet all focus on Central Asian women’s experiences.

The program is co-curated by Dilda Ramazan, DAVRA Collective and League of Tenders as part of Vleeshal’s Nomadic Program 2024-2025, Repetition is a Form of Changing. Screenings in Tashkent are co-produced and co-curated by maqaal and Qizlar collectives.

The films will be screened in the original languages with Uzbek and English subtitles. Screenings will be followed by discussion with maqaal and Qizlar collectives in Russian with translation into Uzbek.
